2022 NFL Week 7 injury report: Jets lose two key players for the season; Mike Williams and David Njoku will run out of time

Injuries happen every week in the NFL, but big name bruises were especially common across the league in Week 7. Almost no position was spared in terms of big names, and a team could be forced to make a change at quarterback based on additional medical tests.

Here are some of the more notable injury developments from Sunday’s action:

Stepping in alongside D’Onta Foreman to replace Christian McCaffrey, who was traded to the 49ers on Thursday, the second-year defenseman took advantage of big holes in a Buccaneers upset but left with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter and did not return. Hubbard suffered what is believed to be a minor ankle sprain, according to ESPNleaving his status for Sunday’s game against the Falcons up in the air.

The star wide receiver left the field under his own power shortly after failing to fire a throw into the end zone from Geno Smith against the Chargers. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that his star receiver is suffering from a patellar tendon problem that, at this point, doesn’t appear to require surgery. There is no timeline for his recovery as Metcalf is currently focused on rehabilitation.

The wide star was traced to the locker room after suffering an ankle injury in the second half of Los Angeles’ game with Seattle. Williams suffered a twisted leg in a fourth game where he was prevented from converting a first down. He needed help getting to the touchline and was unable to put weight on his injured leg. It was determined on Monday that Williams had a sprained ankle that would cause her to “run out of time.” by ESPN.

The young star took a big hit from Cowboys linebacker Anthony Barr and was flagged for a possible concussion early in Detroit’s loss. After an evaluation in the medical tent, the wide was ruled out for the rest of the day and will have to clear concussion protocol before returning for more games. Lions coach Dan Campbell said Monday his receiver did not suffer a concussion but was ruled out due to new NFL protocols.

The de facto No. 1 receiver in Green Bay, Lazard left the Packers’ narrow loss to Washington with a shoulder injury. He was deemed doubtful to return but did not take another snap, leaving the team even thinner.

Leading Cleveland with seven catches for 71 yards before going out, the veteran injured his ankle in the third quarter and was quickly ruled out. The injury was labeled a sprained ankle which is expected to sideline the Browns tight end for 2-5 weeks, according to ESPN.

Harrison Bryant is the only other fully healthy tight end on their roster, with backup Jesse James on injured reserve.

New York went 6-1 against the Jaguars, but their rookie right tackle left early with a knee injury and did not return. Fortunately, tests confirmed that Neal suffered an MCL sprain but was able to avoid a season-ending injury, through the folder. Neal’s estimated timeline for recovery is four weeks.
